History

Female Cancer Program Foundation, since 2011 shortly called Female Cancer Foundation (FCF), was founded in February 2006 in Leiden and originated from a cooperation that was established in the late 1980s between the departments of Gynaecology, Pathology, Immunohematology and Clinical Epidemiology of Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC).

The above collaboration was founded on the ideal of fighting cervical cancer worldwide. Therefore, in the 90s, hospitals and universities were approached in areas of the world where cervical cancer is common. Meanwhile, FCF from LUMC has entered into long-term and structural partnerships with fellow institutes in Africa and Asia. Read more about our projects here.
