Every two minutes, a woman dies of cervical cancer somewhere in the world. Every year, 500,000 women get cervical cancer and more than 300,000 women die from it, 85% of them in low- and middle-income countries.

There is no cure for HPV. Therefore, it is important to detect the precursors at an early stage and to intervene in time. In contrast to women in the Netherlands, women in developing countries usually do not have access to care, let alone to any programmes for prevention of cervical cancer. This is why Female Cancer Foundation applies the See & Treat method.
